Meet Nicola, Technical Assistant – Industrial
What are your responsibilities?
As part of the busy sales team, I am the first point of contact for any queries customers may have regarding AGMAs industrial range of products.
I assist with all aspects of technical support, for example, providing information that’s requested, preparing quotes. coordinating orders for customers and ensuring the smooth distribution and logistics.
I enjoy that I interact daily with people across, not only the UK and Europe but also across the continents of Asia, Africa and the Americas, in countries like Malaysia, Argentina, Brazil and many others.
In addition, I work closely with production to check and plan stock levels and have regular contact with customers to pre-empt and manage their requirements.
What is your background?
After completing my A-level business studies at Haydon Bridge High School in Northumberland, I became involved in a family business as an office manager and sales support.
When I was given an opportunity to expand my experience, I accepted the opportunity to work for a local legal services company and spent the next 5 and a half years in the field of writing wills and lasting powers of attorney.
Before joining AGMA, I spent another 5+ years working for the NHS as a medical secretary. I joined AGMA In September 2022.
If you could work in any other part of the business, where would you work?
I’m interested in the administrative side of production and logistics of the AGMA business.
What is the best thing about your role?
The girls in the sales team are fantastic; they create a supportive and lively atmosphere that makes every day enjoyable. Additionally, being involved in various projects allows me to learn and grow within the industry, which I find incredibly rewarding.
Speaking to customers all over the world and building working relationships is both interesting and fulfilling. It provides me with global insights into different markets and helps me understand the diverse needs of our clients.
What challenges do you face and how do you overcome them?
The main challenge within the industrial sector is the export logistics all over the world.
Dealing with hazardous product, particularly, needs careful planning of export and understanding of dangerous goods and other factors, to avoid any issues.
The environment is fast paced, so you need to prioritise time management and effective communication with all stakeholders involved.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Socialising with a great circle of friends is one of my favourite things. Also, walking Rocco, my Border Collie.
I’ve recently become a proud aunty and look forward to spending time with my adorable new niece.
Congratulations to Nicola and family on their new arrival!
