In this FAQ guide, we answer some of the most common questions about sterile cleanroom consumables, including their uses, sterilisation methods, storage, and best practices.
How do I select the correct sterile cleanroom biocides and disinfectants?
Selecting the correct sterile cleanroom biocides and disinfectants starts with matching the chemistry to your environment, contamination risks, and regulatory expectations.
Factors such as residue risk, evaporation time, contact time, ease of application (e.g., wipes vs. sprays), bacteria/fungi performance, evaporation and odour all influence usability and consistency.
How do I select between IPA and DE alcohol sprays and wipes?
Selection depends on whether the requirement is for rapid sterilisation or residue management.

How to decide on double vs triple-bagged products.
You can prevent harmful contamination from entering critical cleanrooms and other environments by using double or triple-bagged products together with an efficient two or three-step transfer process.

Are your products just for cleanrooms?
AGMA’s sterile and 0.2-micron filtered products are designed for use in Grades A-D cleanrooms. We also have products that can be used in other controlled environments and industries, such as industrial manufacturing environments, labs and other scientific environments.
What’s the optimal wiping technique for cleanrooms?
To ensure you have contamination control within your environment, you must use the correct cleaning techniques to keep it in optimal condition.
- Always use a clean face of the wiper per stroke (pass).
- Wipe from the cleanest area to the dirtiest areas in long, straight strokes, wiping systematically from top to bottom, left to right
- Always wipe in the same direction.
- Always use a new clean wiper face when re-wiping a surface.
In this blog, we’ve put together a simple 5-step guide to wipe down surfaces, the AGMA way, using our 1/4 folded wipes, which produce up to eight clean wiper faces
What is the difference between sterile and non-sterile cleanroom products?
AGMA’s sterile cleanroom consumables are specially treated to eliminate all viable microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, and spores. These products are essential in highly controlled environments such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology
Our 0.2 micron filtered (non-gamma irradiated) range, on the other hand, is manufactured and packaged to minimise particulate contamination but is not subjected to a sterilisation process. While they are suitable for controlled environments that require cleanliness and low particle counts, they do not guarantee the absence of microorganisms.
How should I store cleanroom cleaners, biocides and disinfectants?
Following the manufacturer’s instructions for proper storage of cleanroom cleaners, biocides, and disinfectants is essential to maintain contamination control and prevent microbial growth or cross-contamination.
In line with SDS, always keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment, stored in their original, clearly labelled, and tightly sealed containers, and protected from direct sunlight.
Sporicides & disinfectants: what are the differences?
All disinfectants are biocides. All sporicides are biocides. Not all biocides are sporicides. Learn more in our blog: Sporicides & disinfectants: what are the differences?
How should I dispose of used consumables?
Always follow your facility’s waste disposal protocols.
Do you supply companies outside of the UK?
AGMA supplies globally to 38 countries (in 2026) through a trusted supply and distributor network. Orders can also be placed directly with our sales team at sales@agma.co.uk

How long will my order take?
Standard UK delivery takes 5–7 working days. If the item is in stock, it may be dispatched the same day.
Please contact us at sales@agma.co.uk for specific details and international orders.
How much disinfectant is needed to disinfect a cleanroom?
EU GMP Annex 1 does not prescribe a specific volume or fixed amount of disinfectant for cleanroom cleaning. Rather, the required quantity should be defined by the facility’s Contamination Control Strategy (CCS) and verified through validation to ensure adequate surface coverage.
Our recommended coverage rate is 200 ml per 10 m² for AGMA’s sterile product range.
Can I pay for my order in currencies other than GBP?
Yes, AGMA accepts payments in multiple currencies. Please contact us for further information.
How do I place my order?
